A Commitment of Love

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. (James 1:27 NLT)

This month I am participating in “Blog Month” for Compassion International.

Child Sponsorship through Compassion International – $38 per month can change the life of a child

As you know, I have not asked for offerings or contributions to support this portion of our ministry.  The expenses of our website and podcast are something I happily underwrite.  So, it is an honor for me to bring this cause before you, to challenge you and to hopefully inspire you to make a commitment of love by sponsoring a child today. I am asking that you seriously and prayerfully consider sponsoring a child through Compassion International.

My family & I sponsor a child through Compassion International.  Her name is Alice, she is 16 years old and lives in Kenya. We have been Alice’s sponsor for a little over two years. Her picture hangs on our refrigerator. We correspond with her monthly. We purchase birthday and Christmas presents for her. We pray for her and we share our hearts with her. She is a part of our family even though we may never meet face-to-face this side of heaven.  She is a constant reminder of the blessing of God upon our lives as well as the call of God upon our lives to reach the world with the love of Christ.

Each month we send $38 and are amazed at what Compassion is able to do with this amount of money.  $38 each month provides food, clean water, medical care, education, life-skills training and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Your commitment of love to a child of $38 on a monthly basis will truly change their life.

Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. (Isaiah 58:10 NLT)

We are the hands and feet of Jesus.  Angels are not feeding and caring for children in the third world and God has no agency, organization or government other than the church to accomplish this mission. If the Great Commission is going to reach into these areas of the world it will happen because believers like you make a commitment of love to make it happen.

I know that sponsoring a child through Compassion International will change the life of the child that you sponsor.  The impact is evident and it is significant.  I also know that sponsoring a child through Compassion International will also change your life as well. It will change your heart, it will change your perspective and it will move you to a greater level of consecration in your walk with Jesus.

Thank you for allowing me to place the needs of these children before you.  If you would like to learn more about child sponsorship through Compassion International please click here.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ (Matthew 25:34-40 NLT)
